Fabric Crochet Hook Case

Okay, I finally have some free time to sew on my new sewing machine. My first sewing using sewing machine is not perfect yet as I'm still figuring out how to use it properly. Even though I made a lot of mistakes but the result still meets my standard as a new user of sewing machine.

My first sewing using sewing machine is a crochet hook case because I didn't have any proper crochet hook case. The only hook case I have is a plastic case that came with a set of crochet hook when I bought them and it's so bad.  My hooks constantly kept escaping through the holes in the case and made a loud sound when  they hit the floor. So I promised to myself that I will make a decent hook case as soon as possible after my sewing machine arrives.

Wanna see my new crochet hook case? So here it is ....

It's here!!!

Yippie, the one that I've been waiting for is here. My new toy, my new best friend, my new SEWING MACHINE.*banana dancing* Now, one of my wish list is already fulfilled. Can you imagine how happy I am?I bet you can.
It was ordered 4 four months ago and I asked them to have it delivered in July. I'm so excited when  it was finally arrived last Tuesday. It is a Messina L9 from Singer. It's only a simple sewing machine but for me who knows nothing about sewing machine, it works just fine. Love it!

See, even my daughter's crocheted bunny pencil case loves it and hops onto it (I will post her crocheted bunny pencil case later when it's done). Can't wait to see what this machine could do for me. By bye hand sewing!

Now, my next wish on the list to fulfill is a craft room. Yeah, I need that so bad :)

Happy sewing!!!

{Back To School} Bunny Pencil Case

Hi all fellow crafters, how is your holiday? Mine is good even though we didn't go anywhere, just spent the holidays going swimming with the kids. We go swimming almost every day and as a result, our skin is getting darker yet it's fun though.

The school will start in 2 weeks and it'll be my youngest's first day as a first grader and my eldest as a 7th grader. I'm sure in these 2 weeks I'll be very busy preparing all my kids's school supplies. My youngest is so excited meeting her old and new friends and having new school supplies. And I'm as excited as her as well. So, in order to make her first day at elementary school more fun, I made her a crocheted bunny pencil case.

{Tutorial} My Melody Felt Bag

It's been a long time since my last tutorial. I guess it's the time for me to share another tutorial with you. Today's tutorial is My Melody Bag. For those who happen have ever been stumbled upon my blog perhaps know I have ever made a My Melody bag. It was made out of felt and as usual I always use another piece of felt as lining to make the bag stronger. This bag is almost as big as the Hello Kitty bag I made.

Are you ready? Let's get started!

Shell Stitch Scarf

This one is an easy scarf. It can be done in few hours if you're fast. I finished mine in a month. It was me and my daughter who crocheted this scarf whenever we had free time and nothing else to do. The stitch required here is double crochet stitch and V stitch to make the shell.

Another crochet project. It's yellow angry bird. I got the pattern from Ravelry but mine didn't turn out as good as theirs.

One-eyed monster

Okay, it's my first amigurumi. A day before my son's school field trip, he told me that he would have this exchanging-gift activity and was asked to bring a gift which is worth IDR 10.000 (Around $1). Well, it was a sudden notice and I was too lazy to go out just to buy that. I have yarns at home, felt fabric, a lot of yarn and felt. Well, I guess you could tell how the story went after that ... Since I couldn't know whether it was for a boy or a girl, I guess an amigurumi monster key chain is a safe option for me to make.

Great videos for learning basic crochet

I firstly learned the basic crochet from a book that I bought. I thought the book was clear enough for a beginner like me but right after I really started crocheting, the book turns out not as clear as I thought it was to be. My first crochet project I did in my previous post based on that book was totally unsuccessful. I didn't finish it. I made a lot of mistakes, I was so frustrated but I haven't given up on crocheting yet.  So, since I'm more to a visual kind of person, I went to YouTube and tried to find a good tutorial video and found these great videos. These videos are really helpful and easy to understand especially for beginner. It taught basic crochet very well compared to other videos I watched. Here are the videos.

The Very Beginning of Crocheting Journey

Have I told you that I started crocheting? Yes, I'm newbie to crochet and learning the basic of how to crochet now, really starting at the very beginning.

The work in progress

It's not finished yet. To be honest, I don't know what I'm making. I just keep crocheting to practice my single crochet stitch. I think I'll stop when it's long enough to be worn as a scarf. However, based on this first experience,  it comes to a conclusion (Well, actually it was my friend's conclusion) that the crochet hook I'm using is too small and totally not comfortable. No wonder it makes my fingers get tired and stiff easily.

Japanese Sewing Books

I'm so excited right now because I will have my first sewing machine delivered on June and my husband is going to Japan in May. Well, actually for the last part I'm not quite excited because I can't go with him to Japan since it is a business trip, as you know fellow crafters, Japan has a lot of cute thing such as fabrics, craft stuff and many more but his promise for bringing me some Japanese sewing books kinda makes me cheerful. And here are the preview of the books I want.

The books I really really want the most are books about wallet and bag. Those two things are kinda universal.  Who doesn't love bag and wallet, right? If I could, I do want to have a full closet of bag.

My Little Queenie learning to sew

When I was finishing my kid's new felt wallet, out of blue, my youngest said that she wanted to stitch. I was so excited that my 6 yo daughter wanted to stitch. So, I gave her my leftover felt and taught her the simplest stitch.

Queenie in action
I really love how she insisted to draw and cut the pattern by herself. The first pattern she drew was the star (as the picture below)

She said the red one is a hand fan and the pink one is a star
She brought her crafts to school and showed them to her friends and came home with some felt craft requests from her school friends.

2 Patricks
She made another star shaped felt and 2 love shaped felts for her friends, unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of those love shaped felts before she gave those to her friends. :(

After her brother and sister said that the star looked like Patrick Star in Spongebob, she glued some buttons on it to make it really look like Patrick.

Playing with scraps
Her last unfinished project is, as what she calls it, a little cushion. She cut the scraps, arranged and glued them. I can't wait for it to finish. Will post the picture later.
